I have a strange problem with my microphone, I can hear myself talk on my speakers, but when I run krecord, or skype, the microphone does not function in those programs. I can still hear myself talk on the speakers, but these programs just won't pick up what i'm saying. any thoughts on how I can resolve this?
im having similar problems, but your solution didnt help. I turned down to 0 the output of the mic, and kept the mic input at 100.. Did even a alsactl store and rc.alsa restart, but still, nor krec or rec will record anything. Skyp neither wont take input. I can still hear my voice on the speakers tho.. a tad odd considering the output is at 0. (also aumix shows it as 0)
Oh yeah, and the mic is plugged at the mic socket of my hercules soundcard. (chipset CMI8738-MC6 - C-Media PCI CMI8738-MC6)
capture is at max.. All I can think of, is that all the other progs use either OSS or arts, and ive got a working config for alsa.. heh.. that would be just my luck..
Thanks! You solved my problem. I had a hard time finding this confounded alsamixer, so I tried typing "alsamixer" in at the cli, and it worked FINE. Coolness.
