I cant get my internal wifi card working without extra software, so i wanted to use my wifi dongle to get all the extra files. However, it does not load the firmware when i plug the dongle in, so i wanted to know how to manually load the firmware.
Wifi dongle: Ralink chipset 5370, covered under rt2800usb driver
i did dmsg | tail and it said it requested the firmware, but it did not load. i did the command after i plugged the wifi module in. i am running openSUSE 13.1, and the driver should come with the distro
I think you might need the "iw" package installed to complete the hardware configuration. It is in the usual repositories, but there is more than one version available for openSUSE 13.1. You might consult openSUSE Package Search for the versions on offer.
I assume you opened Yast2 after you plugged in the wi-fi device and configured it in Network Settings, or that you opened a terminal and used the command "ifup".
