How to update my SuSE 10.0 to KDE 3.5.1 ?

Hi there !

I would like to update my SuSE 10.0/KDE 3.5 to KDE 3.5.1.

None of my yast sources have KDE 3.5.1, neither my apt sources.
gold:~ # installation_sources -s
Installation Sources:
[x] SUSE LINUX Version 10.0 (cd:///;devices=/dev/hdc)
[x]* Packman (SuSE LINUX 10.0) (http://packman.iu-bremen.de//suse/10.0/)
[x]* SUSE LINUX Version 10.0 (ftp://mirrors.kernel.org//opensuse/d...t-source-java/)
[x]* supplementary KDE 3.5 update (ftp://ftp.gwdg.de//pub/linux/suse/ft....0/yast-source)
[x]* guru (SUSE LINUX 10.0) (http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/10.0)
[x]* supplementary KDE 3.5 update (ftp://ftp.suse.com//pub/suse/i386/su...0/yast-source/)
[x]* supplementary GNOME 2.12 update (ftp://ftp.suse.com//pub/suse/i386/su...0/yast-source/)

[x]* scorot rpms (SUSE LINUX 10.0) (http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-scorot/suse100)
[x]* PoLinux (SUSE LINUX 10.0) (http://www.polinux.upv.es/~vfernandez/suse/10.0/)
[x]* suser-liviudm (SUSE LINUX 10.0) (http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-liviudm/10.0)
[x]* usr-local-bin (SUSE LINUX 10.0) (http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/usr-local-bin/10.0)
[x]* (http://mirrors.uol.com.br//pub/suse/)
[x]* SUSE LINUX Version 10.0 (ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/i386/1...10.0-GM-Extra/)
[x]* SUSE LINUX Version 10.0 (ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/di...S/inst-source/)

The sources.list is the one you could get from apt4rpm site...

Anyone knows about instalation sources for this update ?

TIA,

Last time I looked, KDE 3.5.1 was available from your supplementary KDE source.

uhmm...the file ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp...source/content
has a line that says "DISTVERSION 3.5-0".
More than that, the directory ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp...urce/suse/i586
has only 3.5 KDE files.
Running YaST/Software Management/Packages/ the left list only shows 3.5 versions for KDE packages (there is no blue selections).

Or I missed something ?

I checked the version of the kdebase3 package on this server, and it's 3.5.1 (see below):
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp....1-18.i586.rpm
Maybe the update is in progress and not all packages have been replaced, yet.

Before you run the Software Managment module, refresh the source.

EDIT: Just looked at the date of the above package and it seems it has been uploaded this morning.
EDIT2: Not YaST compatible, but SUSE: http://download.kde.org/download.php...uSE/ix86/10.0/

Yeah, not YaST compatible !

Do you think is safe to make a upgrade based on theses files you pointed to me ? I mean, I will not break anything ? I am a bit chicken to make upgrades without the YaST's help.

Will "rpm -Uvh *.rpm" do the job in the proper way ?

thanks,

Why don't you wait until ftp.gwdg.de is complete? If it isn't already, it will probably be by tomorrow. Did you do the refresh?

If you can't wait any longer, yeah, just do it with rpm. Download the whole stuff in a local directory and do it. Should work anyway. The gwdg source will not have mp3 support anyway.

I was just kidding. Sure I can wait a bit longer. But its nice to known it's safe to upgrade from the vanilla sources, at least for KDE, 'cause I do that once for the kernel and my system never was like as before.

see'ya

I've just updated using gwdg.de and although everything works fine, the repo is not yet complete. I had to remove kdebase-khotkeys for everything else to install.
