How to mount an encrypted partition in opensuse 11.1

Hi,

i guess this is a regression bug in opensuse 11.1 as some other users have mentioned elsewhere.

the problem is that i have an encrypted LUKS partition on my HHD created using 11.1

now i've formatted and reinstalled the root partition but i don't have the option in yast to mount the crypto drive . although according to other users it was possible in 11.0

anyways , so what needs to be done is to mount this goddam partition at any cost , BUT HOW ?!

I'm trying to manually mount the partition using the info here

http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Using_the...pted_partition

so far no success

this is the error response received after typing mount as documented in the above page:
Quote:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
...and dmesg prints out garbage saying that "superblock could not be mounted" WTF !?

help is needed PLZ !

@entz;

You have been here long enough to know that putting "URGENT" in thread titles is not good practice. I suggest you take that out of your title---you will probably get more help.

I'm afraid that i've never taken notice that putting 'urgent' is 'bad practice' the only reason why i've put it is because it's an urgent matter.

anyways , i'm gonna change it to make you happy

...and some more info

executing the following command

Code:
losetup -e twofish256 /dev/loop0 /dev/sda7
will return this error message

Code:
ioctl: LOOP_SET_STATUS: Invalid argument
from what i've read is that this error is returned usually when the cipher is unrecognized , so i've tried 'blowfish' instead which worked however when i continued to mount the device using that loop device (loop0) i got the lengthy error seen above.

What do you think it's the problem ?

is it related to cipher or is it something else ??

cheers
