Help the newbie time

I am not that large of a newbie when it comes to linux. Ran it off and on for few years. Just barely built my new ASUS a8n-sli premium amd x2 4400 + system and am having some troubles.

First off, using the new 10.1. Installed great, didn't detect my wireless card. I have a Dlink g510 I think. I have used Ndiswrapper before, but I don't think Dlink has anything that supports 64 bit. Am I wrong or is there another way?

Second question, how do I run multiple monitors on linux. Right now the thing just duplicates my one monitor. The effect is less then pleasant.

Any help will be appreciated guys.

Don't use wireless anymore with Linux. Nothing but a headache.

Dual monitors is another thing. What type of card do you have? It makes a difference. Also, if you are using SLI, both your SLI cards have to be dual or you are SOL.

With NVidia and 10.1 it's back to the old days. Install the kernel source, gcc and make, if they are not already installed. Get the 64-bit driver from the NVidia site. Boot into Linux safe mode (command line) and load the driver. If you get an error, then type "telinit 5" and try again. Once the driver has finished compiling and installing, run SAX from the command line before rebooting. You do this by typing "sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia" sax should give you a dual head option. From there it is easy. Once everything is configured in sax, reboot. You should be good.

aye, reminds me of when I were a lad. walking 5 miles to school. barefoot. in the snow.

Suse 10.1 has serious problems with wireless. My linksys cards won't work with 10.1 but work fine with 10.0 using ndiswrapper.
