Having MP3 woes with SuSe 9.3


I can't play any MP3's from any applications provided (Amarok, Totem) however, the amazing thing is my sound card does work and does play sounds, however, i can't play MP3's. Suggestions anyone?

Go to yast and run the software update.

Suse has not included support for mp3 (out of the box) on 9.3. You need to do a YOU update and select the Multimedia Option 1. This will download the necessary (mad packages) and it will work fine.

It is a good idea to download these as a separate file first - so that you can keep a copy if you ever need to re-install Suse in the future.
