google talk plug in installation help needed

Hi

I need to install google talk plugin.

I tried to call videochat with a friend but it said google talk plugin to be installed on firefox. Then i clicked on the link given by gmail.com and it gave me the following rpm file

google-talkplugin_current_i386.rpm

then i gave the command

rpm -ivh google-talkplugin_current_i386.rpm

error: can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/__db.000

Please help me.

Hi there,

It appears that the file installer trying to access is already been locked by another application. Might be possible that you tried to run this command when firefox was on with google messenger.

Reboot the system and then try to perform the install.

Hi

Today I rebooted the system and gave install command at linux shell and it said the google talk plugin is already installed but when I try to open the gmail and videochat, gmail website says that it is not installed.

Have you got any other idea to check this?

Thanks

you do know that this is a thread from 2011
And for opensuse!!!!!

suse dose NOT use yum!!!
it uses "zypper"

you have two identical posts on two very old threads for two different operating systems

it almost looks like " fill in the blank "

Excuse me...
I confused LinuxQuestions.org with FedoraQuestions.org ... :-(
Sorry.

(Although, may be, if yum can be replaced by zipper, then my post can be helpful :-) ?..)
