I am not very familiar with this subject, but to my knowledge X doesn't listen to port 6000 in all newer SUSE versions. When I look at the settings on my system, I find that the ports are commented-out in /etc/services, in /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers the '-nolisten tcp' is set and in /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config, 'DisplayManager.requestPort: 0' is set. I don't know which of these settings actually does the job, but maybe it helps you.

i figured it out..........with most distros.......all u have to do is change the Xserver file from
/usr/X11/bin/X (just an example)
to
/usr/X11/bin/X -nolisten tcp

where with suse they offer a different script for all that .......
and have a section specifically for passing arguments to the server......
I still dont understand why most distros dont close this port......
its like a sore thumb sticking out at you unless you need it open and if you need it open then you should be able to open it on your own........
