Error installing please help...

Hi,

I am trying to reinstall suse. I was using version 10 but because of dual monitor issues I have been trying to go back to 9.3 becuase I know 9.3 worked.

The system I have is based on a 64bit intel so I am attempting to install 64bit suse.

So far I have made 4 DVDs- 2 64bit 9.3s, 1 32bit 9.3, and 1 32bit 10.0

all pass the media check but when it begins the actual copying of files I receive the same error message:

error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/??? cpio: rename failed - Read-only file system.

I have made sure that all my filesystems are not mounted read only.
I have two sata drives (each on their own bus, and have not received any hardware errors from suse10), which I have spread my partitions across:

drive1
/boot
/home
/local
/srv
/var
/
/opt

drive2
swap
/usr
/tmp
/documents
/installfiles

any one know what is going on here?

[edit:]
It appears to be directly related to the /usr directory only. Does this partition have to be on the first drive?

thanks

solved it...

wierd though. I had to move /usr off the second drive and onto the first one for the install to occur.
