DVD Playback Issue In Kaffeine
I'm trying to enable DVD playback in SUSE 10 OSS, so I found a magazine article online covering the topic. Their procedure more-or-less involved removing the crippled multimedia libraries, installing the fully-featured ones, and then installing libdvdcss (I hope nobody minds the legal issues) via an RPM. Everything went as planned until I actually attempted DVD playback via Kaffeine. Just as I place the DVD in the drive and Kaffeine starts, I get the message: "Error reading NAV packet." I've surfed around the web trying to find a solution, but all of the solutions I could locate involved installing libdvdcss, which I have already done. The only idea I have is that perhaps ANY DVD playback is only possible through the pay-version of SUSE, and that answer is kinda desperate. Any ideas?
It's nice that it works, but with a correct installation, root permissions should not be required to read DVD's. Maybe you have some configuration files of the crippled xine/kaffeine version in your homedirectory. I prefer mplayer anyway.
