dual boot with Windows7 OpenSuse and Freebsd10.1

Hi all

My dual boot works perfect, but when i add and try to use Freebsd, can't get it

Old pc with BIOS not UEFI

ada2 298GB GPT

ada2p1 freebsd-boot

ada2p2 freebsd- ufs /

adaxx and so on

Question: in /boot/grub/menu.lst - Opensuse11.3 - how to add ada2p2,if it's the right hd?

Many trials, an googgled a lot, but still stuck with this issue..

rootnoverify (hd2,0)
chainloader +1 Error 13: Invalid or unsupported format

rootnoverify (hd2,1)
chainloader (hd2,1)+1 Same error .

......
......

Any idea?

Thanks a lot for your help.

I've never used FreeBSD but, if you have whatever bootloader it uses installed to the partiton on which you the system boot files, a chainloader entry should work. Grub Legacy which was used by 11.3 counts drives from zero and partitions from zero. So the two entries you posted would be trying to boot the third hard drive, first partition (hd2,0), the second entry would be trying to boot the third hard drive and second partition (hd2,1).

Opensuse 11.3 is not supported any longer, 3 years ago if the site below is correct. Opensuse started using Grub2 on newer releases starting with 12.2.

Hi yancek,

Thanks a lot for your help, first.

I'm going to replace GPT partition with old school MBR...

If still stuck, downgrade to Freebsd 9; worked perfectly on another installation.

Regards.
