Does Yast look at the latest rpm version

Hello,
Does anyone know if you are using multiple mirror sites or even off of a single mirror site, does YAST look at the version of a program you have installed and upgrade automatically? If not do you need to uninstall and reinstall?

I am having tk window problems with a program called scilab that a colleague running Debian does not have. But there are two differences. I am running Suse 10.0 and have a 64 bit system and have found no rpm setups specifically for scilab on a 64 bit system.

Any suggestions? thanks.

YaST will recogize and install the latest version. However, it does not do this automatically, so you need to run YaST from time to time to be up-to-date. You can recognize updateable packages by the blue color in which they appear in the software managment module.

The easiest way to update is to select the filter "Package Groups -> zzz All" and then from the "Package" menu "All in this list -> Update if newer version available".

It may work with the "System Update" module as well.

Make sure that you update/refresh the installation sources before running this procedure.
