CD ROM Drive popping out randomly

hey

I just installed SuSe 9.2 with KDE 3.3.3. About every two minutes the CDROM drive popups.

I checked running processes there is nothing that really jumps out at me. Anybody know what might be causing this?

Please Help!

to see what programs are on to ur drive

run

lsof /dev/cdrom

is the Cd Rom drive OK?
it is working fine elsewhere

There is supposed to be an option in SuSEPlugger to monitor disc-changes (one of the icons in the taskbar). Unfortunately I am not sitting on my of machine, so I can't be more specific. Try to change the setting there and see if it helps.

I have the same problem. I managed to track it back to susePlugger, which was sending an eject signal every minute or two. Doing a right-click 'Quit' on susePlugger in the taskbar stopped the messages from coming and therefore let me use my drive normally, but I never really found a true fix for the problem.

Hopefully this will help in the short term - if anyone knows a real fix for it I'd love to know about it.

are you sure its not a ghost in your room pressing eject?
