cannot connect to ldap server

Dear Fellow SuSers-
I am pleasantly surprised with the ease of creating Windows shares on SuSe Linux Enterprise Server 9. I want to use LDAP authentication, which requires me to create an LDAP certificate. This normally happens during install, however, I have not found documentation which explains what goes in the form that must be completed when creating the certificate. During creation of Samba shares, I am prompted to query the LDAP service after which I get an error: : ..cannot connect to LDAP server..." I know the LDAP server starts on boot so it's on, I guess I have misconhosed it up. If any of you have an idea what to do or where to look it up post it please. I believe it's critical to get LDAP up since I want network users to authenticate to this server later if not sooner. (Samba & LDAP server on same box, need to use for Windows logon server ).

Regards,
Marc
