[SOLVED] Can I upgrade from 11.3 to 13.1 from inside the distro.

Can I upgrade from 11.3 to 13.1 from inside the distro.
Very simple question really....I have running 11.3 at the opening page.
Can I just open the DVD, stick in a copy of 13.1 and let it run.
Or do I have to go back and start with the bio's and do a complete install.
11.3 is running but it has lots of conflicts...rather than fix lots of little things I'm thinking a complete upgrade could fix everything at once......

Not sure what you mean by "opening page", or going back to BIOS, but no, you can't upgrade from that many versions back. Even if you COULD, you'd be far better off backing up your data, formatting your disk, and doing a fresh install.

Sorry about that...it's just the way I think,; the opening page is the desktop or the first screen you get to after starting the thing.
Going back to the bio's is exactly what you are saying.... a fresh install...which is what I will do..
I know this is solved , I think that if you were to try what you originally wanted to do that it would only install the newer version alnog with the older version , there is a command that can upgrade the distro but I don't remember the command and also I think that going from 11.3-13.1 might cause some problems.
I totally agree what was posted to just back up and install new distro.
