Can't record sound with Audigy LS

Long story short:
- I have Audigy sound card, identified as '01:07.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy LS' using ca0106 alsa module. Also have an onboard sound card which is disabled in BIOS.
- I installed suse 10.2 64bit. Sound wasn't working at all. I added myself to audio group and in file /etc/modprobe.d/sound I added a line 'options snd-ca0106 enable=1 index=0'. Playing sound works fine know.

Now here's my problem:
My mic wasn't working. I experimented with alsamixer settings and it started to work... or so I thought. If I speak to the mic I can hear my voice in the speakers, but I can't record it in any way. This way I can't talk to people on skype (they can't hear me) or record anything in audacity. I've got no idea what is wrong (especially that I can hear my voice in the speakers). I experimented with permissions to /dev/dsp and other devices in audio group (made them 777), but with no result.

Screens below show my alsamixer configuration

Any help is greatly appreciated. I really need skype. I'll provide any necessary info about my system if needed.

Well... anyone? Two questions to all you guys out there:
1) does any single one of you have this card? 'lspci' identyfies it as Creative Labs SB Audigy LS.
If answer to question 1) is 'yes' then
2) does the mic input work? (yes/no/not tested)

similar issue

I have a similar issue, sort of.
I have sound, and thought I could not record at all; but when I turn everything up to 11 (that shows how old I am), I can then record, if I shout!

It's not a very satisfactory situation and one of the last niggles I have left to iron out, so I hope someone can help.

on board sound (82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller), Suse 10.2 64bit, latest ALSA drivers.

Ok, I made a big step forward. In alsamixer I had to select Digital Capture Source to SRC out. Now I can record with audacity, but not with Krecord or skype. Audacity uses ALSA device CA0106 (hw:0,0) for playback and CA0106 (hw:0,1) for recording. If I select CA0106 (hw:0,0) for recording, I can't record with audacity, so it looks like other programs (like skype) use CA0106 (hw:0,0) both for recording and playback. Does anyone know how to change this default?

ALSArc

I think you might need to specify something in the alsarc file. I'm not into the details but I do know you can change the default 'card' the system is using for all it's work or just for the recording.
wkr,
gkokmdam

PS thanks for the tip about the extra switch. I'll see if my system has such a key. Recording with audacity is at least something!
