Question ATI driver and SuSE 10.1 again

Hi,

Interesting thing happened to my ATI driver after some upgrading of the system. I have installed the latest ATI driver(Radeon 9700, AMD 64)and next day when I switched on my comp, the old "bug" repeated again. I have no 3D acceleration but only 2D. I opened ATI control panel and there is my card OK,the display driver OK, but Open GL is Mesa. So I installed the driver again and it worked. But next day everything repeated again. Then I opened Yast control center, went to Hardware and open Monitor setup. There was the right monitor and the driver and the 3D check box was checked. I just confirmed that all is OK then the test window opened, confirmed that too and saved the "changes" again. After restarting computer there is ATI driver agan and 3D too. I do not know why this is happening in SuSE 10.1(newer happened in SuSE 10.0).Maybe somebody experienced the same thing and has resolved it.

regards

Riba, have you checked for updated drivers on the ATI website? Maybe they created an update for your situation, or Google it to see if somebody has created their own modded driver... just a thought.

Hi ITintuition,

yes I have the latest driver installed. It happened after upgrading the system. Before that it was working more or less without problems. Now, every time I switch my computer on, it is Mesa Open GL 2D. As I said, I have to "confirm" the changes in Yast>Hardware>Monitor, save the "changes" and it is ATI again. Of course there are no changes at all-I just confirm the old situation. Weird is it not?
