System Freezing During Boot

noob here.

I just installed Suse 9.3 on an old IBM Thinkpad 600x. After finally getting the installation to complete in failsafe mode, the system keeps freezing during boot.

As soon as it gets to "Starting Resource Manager", it feezes completely. I can log onto failsafe mode though.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Do you need more info?

Thanks!

Is it a real lockup or can you still switch to console with Ctrl+Alt+F1? In this case I would guess that the X-server requires some configuration. If the lockup is complete, you could try to deactivate ACPI (type 'acpi=off' at the bootscreen).

Have a look at http://tuxmobil.org/ and http://www.linux-laptop.net/ for information related to your laptop model.
