SuSE 9.3: Supported Webcams?

I want to add a webcam to my SuSE 9.3 installation. If you are using a webcam with SuSE 9.3 right now, and it was supported "out of the box" (i.e. there was a kernel module for it included in the release), could you post the brand and model number of your webcam? I would like to buy one that "will just work". Thanks!

Me too. Then, hoping against hope, I plugged in an old Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 I had from some time back and tried it. SuSE 9.3 didn't recognize it. I hunted down the new Saillard PWC module, downloaded it and tried building it from source. I have tried this with limited success on numerous other OS'. I just about fell over - it built cleanly the first time, no muss no fuss, and worked perfectly. Of course, I had installed the kernel-source package first, which was needed.

This has been my experience with SuSE 9.3 since I put it in. EVERYTHING JUST WORKS! I am amazed. This is the most solid, functional Linux release I have ever worked with. It is not a speed demon, but it is SOLID. I am very impressed.

Anyway, let me answer my own query with at least one entry: the Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 is supported if you build the PWC module.
