Question SuSE 8.2-supported modems

I've just installed SuSE 8.2 Pro and can't find a PCI internal modem that runs on it (PCTel micromodem, Lucent LT Winmodem, and Intel 586ep won't). SuSE provides no list of any fully-supported modems for 8.2, and no drivers, and I can't just keep trying various modems and drivers until I luck upon one that actually detects, configures, AND responds. I'd be grateful to any 8.2 user out there who will tell me which make and model works for them. Thanks.
