Network printer spooling hangs network

I have recently installed SUSE 10.1 on my Sony Vaio SZ2XP laptop. Everything works fine, except for
the following problem with network printer (configured with CUPS):

Sometimes the network just stops while CUPS reports " Spooling, 20% completed". I have to restart
network manually after deleting the printer job from the queue.

I couldn't find any error messages in /var/log/messages and /var/log/cups/error_log to post them here.
Probably I have to look elsewhere, but I don't know where exactly....
