Okay, I'm asking some pretty basic questions here, but I have good reason to start using SuSe. I've used it before and really did like it, but I'm not a big fan of KDE and it seemed as though Suse did not have everyday CLI tools available to the public. A situation has arisen where I need to be familiar with Suse, but again, I can't find my everyday CLI tools such as nano and yes I'm too embarrassed to ask my flesh and blood friends. I'm using the net install of 9.2 current.
Where can a guy get more packages such as nano? I'm looking for supplementary repos for more packages, not necessarily a link to the nano site.
Suse ships with loads of tools, did you search for Nano using the package management module in YAST? If it doesn't have Nano, install PICO or PINE (PICO is part of the PINE mail program).
nano wasn't available from the repos I had listed. I like jed too, but it's not available either.
From the literature i read about Suse, they should be available. The free version says it only has about 900 packages available, while the pro version has something like 4000. Surely someone has made these GPL'd packages available to the public.
I'm not adverse to buying Suse, but I use "current" which a CD release can never duplicate.
