Hi I am a newbie to linux, and i've recently installed gentoo linux on my system. I dont know whats happen but nano editor doesnt seem to be working. It was before, but now when i use the commnad :
nano -w <the file i want to edit>
it just gives me 'illegal instruction' for some reason. Is there anything I can do to get it back?

Try removing(or moving) the files where nano stores it's settings to see if that fix it:

rm -rf .nano_history
rm -rf .nanorc

you should have another nanorc(original) file at your /usr/share/man/man5/nanorc.5.gz. You can copy it from there to your home in the case you need nanorc (which you most likely do ^_^)

Good luck!

Failing that, try reinstalling with 'emerge --oneshot nano'.
