/usr/ucb/ps auxww (not showing all)

Hi.

Solaris 8

When i use the command "/usr/ucb/ps auxww" that is supposed to show all the paramters for the commands, the window size looks like stopping at 80 characters. Is there another command or a fix to this problem, i have tried to add more "-www" but no help.

Regards
Ole

This is by design, likely for security reasons. The BSD compatibility ps manual page states:
Quote:
The wide output option can be viewed only by a superuser or the user who owns the process.

I'm getting more than 80 characters wide as my normal user on a solaris 9 box...

Maybe something terminal related? What kind of terminal are you using?
echo $TERM

Okay, that's surprising as it works here with Solaris Express.

Just to be sure, can you run the following script and post its output:

Code:
#!/bin/ksh
sleep 3600 /bin/a* &
pid=$(jobs -l|nawk '{print $3}')
/usr/ucb/ps -auxww $pid
