SUN Video Support

Hello All,

I recently purchased two of the following

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=170&item=5131900044&rd=1

to enable myself to use my VGA monitor(s) with some SUN machines i acquired. They, however, do not work! The monitor just rolls over and over while flickering, like the frequency is off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for all the help!

It would help knowing what Sun machine model and what graphic card is at one side of the connector and what monitor is at the other side.

While the adapter should connect matching pins, it is not enough to guarantee it will works. Video signal characteristics like resolution and frequencies matter.

The computer is a SUN SPARC 10. I am not sure what Video card is in it.

The monitor is a Gateway 2000, about 3 years old.

Usual resolution on that kind of workstation is 1152x900 66Hz or 76Hz and 1280x1024.
There are three pins on the 13W3 connector that set the resolution and frequency used.
Cards supported on a SS10 are documented at:
http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub...GRAPH_TOC.html
in the SBus list.

You have to found out if your monitor can handle these resolutions and frequencies.
