sparc system?


keep on hearing the term "sparc" refered.
Is it a CPU?

Yes.
Sun Microsystems designed them for high end servers and workstations. Solaris is the OS designed for the Sparc but there are linux ports.

AMD 64 Opterons are entering the Sun low end H/W game too.
