Solaris Install quarrel on x86 laptop!

Well, I want to install Solaris x86 on my laptop, so I checked this site if it was listed, it is. It's the Thinkpad R31..
Now, when I start the install, both specific scan the the automatic one give me a 'bad resource type 0x0' error and it says that it can't mount root filesystem..
In this case, I think it can't recognise the CD-Rom..
This was with Solaris 8, with Solaris 10 I get 'bad resource type 0x9' and it can't mount root filesystem.. same problem..
Is there anyway for me to fix this?

An extra note-- I tried disabling Parallel port in the BIOS, and this causes the install to stall, not give me an error.

maybe this problem is caused by the hidden partition. and solaris is not suitable for installing on laptop.
