snmpd to be run by other user aside from root

Hi guys, I have my machine running snmpd on Solaris 8. My question is it possible that snmpd be run by other user aside from root? I trie to run it with another user and it seems not to run though I get no error. When I try ps -ef |grep snmpd, I see no snmpd running. Is there a work around for my problem? TIA.

Not sure about Solaris 8, but recent Solaris snmpd has "-g groupid" and "-u userid" for that need.
