Self Service Password Reset for Sendmail or Solaris
Hi all,
I am wondering if i should as this question in this forum or the Sendmail forum, if its the sendmail forum then i am so sorry,
The question is, i am trying to find out how to enable password resetting/change for email user accounts over the internet without accessing the terminal to reset the password, i am not running IMAP server just sendmail on solaris with popper. if any one can help me with this i will really appreciate your help..
It's not recommended but there are change passwd scripts where users passwords are actually authenticated from /etc/passwd and shadow files.
Try looking up chpass, it's a web based cgi script to change users passwords and you can block anyone from trying to change root's passwd, etc. I'd suggest you look into using something like LDAP or the like for sendmail or email users which is much easier to write a online based script to allow users to change their passwords without having direct access to a console or terminal.
