running vcd mplayer solaris 10 - USCSICMD: READ CD: Not owner error?
Hi,
I downloaded mplayer from Blastwave on my SPARC box only I can't run VCD's as a user?
I have tried with root however it runs but no video window opens. It does show the stream in the console though!
exact error is this:
Code:
$ mplayer vcd://2
ld.so.1: mplayer: fatal: /opt/csw/lib/libopenal.so: /opt/csw/gcc3/lib/$ISALIST -R/opt/csw/lib/$ISALIST: token ISALIST could not be expanded
ld.so.1: mplayer: fatal: /opt/csw/lib/libopenal.so: /opt/csw/gcc3/lib/$ISALIST -R/opt/csw/lib/$ISALIST: token ISALIST could not be expanded
ld.so.1: mplayer: fatal: /opt/csw/lib/libopenal.so: /opt/csw/gcc3/lib/$ISALIST -R/opt/csw/lib/$ISALIST: token ISALIST could not be expanded
ld.so.1: mplayer: fatal: /opt/csw/lib/libopenal.so: /opt/csw/gcc3/lib/$ISALIST -R/opt/csw/lib/$ISALIST: token ISALIST could not be expanded
MPlayer 1.0rc2-CSW-Studio11 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team
CPU: Sun Sparc
Playing vcd://2.
track 01: adr=1 ctrl=4 format=2 00:02:00 mode: 2
track 02: adr=1 ctrl=4 format=2 00:18:02 mode: 2
USCSICMD: READ CD: Not owner
USCSICMD: READ CD: Not owner
Exiting... (End of file)
Was wondering how to get round this as it seems a permission thing?
Any ideas would help, many thanks

You'll probably have better luck with lifewithsolaris.jp packages.

Many thanks, just been on to the website:
http://lifewithsolaris.jp/
Couldn't find anywhere to download though or a list of packages? Do I have to become a member first?
[edit]Ok sorry just read through the FAQ - instructions are there!
Sorry I know am taking the easy option by using packages rather then compiling from source but even if I did that I reckon I would still have the same issue as:
USCSICMD
doesn't seem like it's associated with mplayer!
[edit]
Just tried to install lifewithsolaris.jp only it didn't work?
The FAQ says to run the line: pkg set-authority -O http://pkg.lifewithsolaris.jp:10000/ pkg.lifewithsolaris.jp
But my build is Solaris 10 so even when I tried pkgadd set-authority -O http://pkg.lifewithsolaris.jp:10000/ pkg.lifewithsolaris.jp
it complained that the package wasn't in /var/spool/pkg, it even didn't like the -d option either???

You could have used the instructions shows there:
http://technopark02.blogspot.com/200...1_archive.html
However, as the lifewithsolaris site states, the service is suspended due to legal issues. You'll have to wait for these to be fixed or explore other solutions.
