read from backup tape


Hi all,

i wish to read the contents of the backup tape however when i do a "ufsrestore ivf /dev/rmt/0n" i get

Verify volume and initialize maps
Media block size is 20
Volume is not in dump format

any help ?

How was created the backup tape ?

by using ufsdump 0uf /dev/rmt/0n /app1

Here are possible explanations:
- The dump and restore were made on different architectures (SPARC and x86).
- As you are using a non rewind device, the tape is not positioned at the ufsdump start, "mt rewind" will fix that.
