large size of /var/adm/pacct

Hi,

In one of my production server I found large size of /var/adm/pacct file.
It says it is 1.9 GB

Normally in other servers the size is in KB only.

Any way to truncate this file.

While checking /etc/logadm.conf file I found
/var/adm/pacct -C 0 -N -P 'Fri Jul 23 00:39:39 2010' -a '/usr/lib/acct/accton pacct' -g adm -m 664 -o adm -p never

Also logadm is scheduled in cron.

10 3 * * * /usr/sbin/logadm

Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

Also there are high no. of "defunct" processes are running of application in this server, which might be cause of this issue.

Thanks
Rajan

It's process accounting.
Normally it takes care of itself but on the servers it doesn't I've changed the line in logadm.conf from never to 15d to retain 15 days worth. Not sure if that is the correct way to handle it but since I normally don't care about it any way, it resolves it.
