Java Desktop via Linux X-Server - no KB

I have a Java Desktop Environment running on Solaris 10 directed to my Linux X-Server. It all looks OK until I try to type something in say a terminal or Staroffice, I do not appear to have any Keyboard, i.e. I cannot type.
