As I was visiting
Distrowatch, I noticed Solaris was number 79 in their
Page Hit Ranking--just "
Solaris", not "
OpenSolaris". Hmmm!
The
Oracle Solaris 11 product page is one I have not seen before. I haven't paid a lot of attention, but I wasn't aware this was available.
So is anyone using this?
How does it compare to Sun Solaris of times gone by?
I'm thinking of loading it into a KVM virtual machine on my Fedora host. Has anyone done that? Are there any problems?
Of course, I realize this is not
free software. In fact, the license even says, "
You may not ... disclose results of any benchmark test results related to the Programs without our prior consent." Good grief! If I compare it with another OS, I can't even post the results lest I be in violation of the license. That stinks.
