and compile it (probably separately on 8, 9 and 10).
It basically just compares two files and tells you if they're different - whole lines or tab delimited fields on specified lines, last I checked.
Depending on what you want to check, you might be better off just using awk or sed.
If you write back with what you're looking to accomplish, I can probably point you in a better direction. fcompare, in my experience is really only useful when you're looking at 2 files that ought to be "exactly" the same. If you're looking at passwd and shadow and want to make sure, say, that all the users in passwd are also in shadow, this program will just frustrate you :P
