Good unix book/site for the new?

Hi,
I was going to start a Unix course, however it had allready started and their policy is not to let in new students after a course has started. And I am wondering if you could recommend a good Unix book or site that would teach a new person to the Operating System. I looked around on google but couldnt find any real great ones.
Cheers

Well, I don't know of any one particular book. But I suggest going to www.wikipedia.com and look at their page for UNIX, they usually have an extensive bibliography and links for further study.

That looks very much to be a linux guide. I am more looking for a solaris 10/unix guide.

.. recommend a good Unix book or site that would teach a new person to the Operating System ..

A simple web search with key words "UNIX for beginners" showed me 657,000 results. But since you didn't define the word great anywhere in your posts, there is no way we can help you out in terms of web sites.

However the following books are definitely worth reading:
1. The UNIX Programming Environment, by Brian W. Kernighan & Rob Pike
2. Design of the UNIX Operating System, by Maurice J. Bach

.. I am more looking for a solaris 10/unix guide ..

docs.sun.com is the right place to read all the documentation related to Solaris 10.
