error messages et al

When logging out I can see a text console (white on black) with what appears to be different error messages and reports re logging into su etc, where can I go to view these messages in full? I have had a scour through /var/log but can't seem to find them

What you see is the good old console (/dev/console).

Some of these messages are stored in /var/adm/messages*.
