Autofs fails to mount home directory

Just recently on a solaris 10 system, autofs has failed to mount a user's home directory and so the user gets the cannot chdir to home directory message. Strangely enough though, it will mount the directory if the user logs out and back it or simply tries 'ls /home/username' The only thing that has changed recently is updates have been applied via the smpatch tool.

UPDATE:
The output from dmesg returns these messages:
May 20 14:31:13 golgi.x.x.x automountd[1107]: [ID 293258 daemon.warning] libsldap: Status: 7 Mesg: Session error no available conn.

Though I dont see why as the server is able to contact the ldap server just fine. listuser and id username work fine.
