xf86config and startx do nothing

Hi

Can someonehelp me with my first installation of Slackware 9.1?

I have run the installation and logged in as root.

I come to set up X and here I hit problems.

When I run xf86config nothing happens I just get the next prompt line as if I had just hit return and not typed anything.

This also happens when I type startx.

Can anyone throw some light on this please?

Many thanks

:sorry:

Sorry I did a full install, but I have sorted it. Here's probably my error: I only used a small disk - Having found a new 36GB disk spare in my server room and re installed on it the command is now working

Thanks for you replys

Sorry about not starting a new thread, but Im getting issues there too...

When I hit New Thread it says "< i m g s r c = " h t t p : / / " (I added spaces to ensure It says exactly what I get.

Im having a similar issue with the SlaX Live CD based on Slackware. (v4.0.1).

Nothing I type in seems to start the OS.
This is where it stops:

What you are getting there is the Linux prompt- the 'real' Linux. If you want a GUI you'll have to type xf86config or xf86cfg-textmode at that prompt. this will start a script that will help you set up X.
