I am trying to install Slackware Linux next to WXP and I''m running into some problems. Preivously I have instaleld Fedora Core, so I already have GRUB as a boot loader. I am able to gte Slackware to install, but I have to boot it from the CD.
Here is my partition table:
hda1 - WinXP
hda2 - NTFS
hda3 - /boot (from Fedora)
hda4 - Extended Partition
hda5 - /
hda6 - Linux Swap
Do I still need /boot? Should I install LILO to the MBR? I'm not certain of where Fedora installs GRUB. I would prefer to get rid of GRUB and just use LILO.
You probably still need /boot, because you have to boot into a primary partition. Wheater you want to install lilo to mbr depends on wheater you want to install lilo... It's a matter of taste.
If grub is the first thing that shows up when you boot your computer, it is installed to mbr.
Be aware that if you haven't set lilo correct up, there is a chance you will be temporary unable to boot your computer.
