Slackware 12 installation on ICH9R raid

Hi, there.
I can't install Slackware 12 on ICH9R raid (the mother is Gigabyte GA P35-DS4). I can't make partitions: fdisk shows 2 different hard disks, no raid. Cfdisk says that the end of the partition is after the end of the disk.

Go into your BIOS, set the controller to AHCI mode, create same-size partitions on both disks and set up mdraid volumes with mdadm. Intel's Storage Matrix technology is not supported.

How does this affect the performance? And if in dual boot situation, will RAID work on windoze?

Am doing my homework now since receiving my xps 420 which comes with the same chipset.
