I/O Errors
I'm trying to install slackware 10.1 on my desktop. I was having problems before with it not recognizing the RAID-0 array. Now it does recognize my individual partions on the RAID array, but installation is not working. I've tried using the ext2 and the ext3 file systems but to no avail. On the screen I get fatal errors or i notice that its constantly giving me IO errors It's saying something like not being able to read the inode bitmap. I tried reburning the CDs at a lower speed (16x) but to no avail. I also noticed that cfdisk did not work. It said something like Disk Write Protected unable to access or something along those lines. My best guess as of now is that the files just can't be written to the hard drive. I'm using the sata.i kernel. Is it possible that the kernel is only recognizing the drives, but not so much as to allow them to be written on? It sounds stupid and considering it looks like the drives are formatting properly I don't know. I'm just new at this and clueless.
I am running a Silicon Image SATA RAID controller on a Gigabyte Motherboard.
