Exclamation GuI non functional

Installed Slackware 10.0 on Compaq presario 2500 laptop with existing windows xp. Configured LILO with bare.i and 'noieee1394'. Preferred GNOME..Initial booting msges read:
agpgart:unsupported ATI chipset (device id:cbbz),
you want to try agp_try_unsupported=1
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drives/char/agp/agpgart.0.gz:initmodule:no such device
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drives/char/agp/agpgart.0.gz:hint:lnsmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameter including IO or IRQ parameter
......
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drives/char/agp/agpgart.0.gz:lnsmod/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drives/char/agp/agpgart.0.gz failed
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drives/char/agp/agpgart.0.gz:lnsmod agpgart failed
......
.....
gpm.c(977)
/dev/mouse: no such device

shell commands open up then. Iam able to run the unix/linux commands from the text console. But GUI does not work.
Please do help.

GUI not functional

Check out http//www.akiaki.org/linux/presario.2500.HOWTO.html for install guide using SW9. Madpenguin's SlackersBible or On line LinuxEssentials2 at Linuxpackages documents offer helpful guides too. Maybe SW10.2 has better drivers. Good luck.
