I have searched (a lot) and that comes up a bunch. Now my problem is, I don't know what to do with it. I have tried Terminal and just typing that in, no luck. Not sure how I get to place that I can type all this code stuff in.

You'll need to run it as root or su. You could do some reading here as well.

To the terminal question, if you're in X any terminal will do. If you're using kde try konsole.

You might have to dumb it down just a wee bit.

I'm in X, I get into terminal, I type what? I do mean quote/unquote.
I have tried lots of different commands and I can't get it to accept anything.

I also seem to have glitch where it won't let me see what I'm typing. When I hit enter, it will show. Its not a big deal, I just have to type carefully.

Oh, to see if I'm the right spot, when I'm in Terminal it shows "bash-3.1$" then the cursor. Sound right?

And it doesn't do anything. It just goes to the next line?

What Am I missing?

Are you the root user? You would actually only type netconfig after the # when you are logged on as the root user.

Ohhhh. So I logged in as the root user, typed netconfig, and it works. Go figure.

I knew it would be something stupid (on my end)

Well, I'll be damned. I did the netconfig thing, it didn't work, so I thought I would reboot, and it works!

I just got a little rush. lol

I think I'll tackle the wireless some other day. My brain hurts a little right now.

Installing and configuring Slackware is probably one of the BEST ways to really understand Linux that I can think of - I started with Slack as well (I think it was 10.0, can't remember anymore

), and the things I learned since then have made me not only understand Linux itself, it's helped me learn how my machine really works at a level you just don't get with Windows. Stick with it - if you like to tinker with your system, you've found the PERFECT Linux distro (and this website is the best resource for Slack questions you'll find. Period.) I've been running Slackware on my small email/web/ssh server for about 3 years now, and wouldn't run anything else.
