Upgrading SARPI

I see that Exaga has published a new version of SARPI stuff !

How can I upgrade my existing version of SARPI with the new one ?

If I download the new "system packages" from the SARPI site and upgradepkg all them , will it be sufficient ?

I am afraid that my RPI will not want to boot after the uprade

Upgrading SARPI

every time I updated the kernel I just do upgradepkg --reinstall on all the packages. reboot and done. It boots up in to the new kernel.

I do have my mmcblk0p1 device mounted to /boot but that may not matter I am unsure. I just do it any way.

I put whatever pkgs are required into a '/tmp/some_name' directory and run...

Code:
~# upgradepkg *.txz
Good idea to backup first in any event, in case things don't go as planned. Although I can't recall the last time the process failed to boot after upgrading.

No worries. It's very straight-forward because Slackware ARM by design keeps it simple and makes it very easy.

I didn't mention that the essential SARPi pkgs to upgrade are:
Quote:
kernel
kernel-modules
boot-firmware
The rest are quite optional. Although the 'sarpi-hacks' pkg includes some fixes for Slackware ARM on the RPi devices and onboard wireless firmware/drivers for the RPi3/4 that, in my opinion, is better to install than leave out.

Upgrading SARPI

I've always just upgraded everything to be safe. Never realized if anything was optional.

There's no harm in doing it, that's for sure.

On my non-build systems, I don't usually install the kernel-source unless it's needed. Slackware ARM already has kernel-headers that seem to work just fine for compiling with, so it's generally OK not to install the SARPi kernel-headers pkg.

Upgrading SARPI

Can both header packages be installed together? Will they conflict?

One will overwrite the other.
