Oh geez! <facepalm> I WAS overtired. Stupid mistake, naturally. After more than 6 months and hundreds of boots, dhcp decided for some crazy reason to assign a different address than it ever had. LOL one lousy digit. Anyway, it works just fine and I locked the addy in for good measure.
