Omxplayer compile error on RP3 (Slackware-current)

I am getting what looks like a syntax error in the Makefile.ffmpeg.
The script is automatically downloaded by the slackbuild file. I am wondering what might be causing this.

/bin/sh: -c: line 5: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `"'
/bin/sh: -c: line 224: syntax error: unexpected end of file
make[1]: *** [Makefile.ffmpeg:19: configure] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory '/tmp/SBo/omxplayer-git_1f1d0cc'
make: *** [Makefile:82: ffmpeg] Error 2

Your answer lies in line 5 & line 224 of that script. If the slackbuild had to be edited (e.g a newer version was used) expect errors. Two errors are unusual. At a wild guess, something was set incorrectly in line 5 (Syntax?), and some time later it came back to bite you in 224. It can be tricky to follow those variables, so get the variable names from the script, run it once more, and as soon as it bombs, type
Code:
echo $var1
echo $var2
etc.
I bet one of the ones on line 5 will be wrong.
