xrandr cannot recognize the correct resolution for VGA

Hi, I just updated -current from Jun-10 to Jun-11. After rebooting, my external monitor (VGA) turn in a lower resolution than it used to be. xrandr doesn't list the old modes (higher resolution) any more. Even I add a new mode, it doesen't work.

I noticed that there is a firmware bug in dmesg: video.allow_duplicates=1
I set that parm through modprobe.d. And I confirmed this setting through /sys/module/video/parameters/
But nothing changed.

My display card is intel i915. So I think this issue is related to the latest update of mesa?

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

Did you add a modeline for your new mode? My desktop PC is connected to a SOYO monitor, and I have to give both a modeline and the monitor size in addition to the mode in order to be able to run the monitor at its native 1680x1050 resolution.

I do add a new mode for the monitor. But it doesn't work. The thing is, before the latest kernel update, everything works out of the box. After the upgrade, it failed.
