xf86config

I went throug xf86config and when I entered "startx" the screen goes black and just stays like that. Any help?

I'm assuming you mean that there is only blackness on the screen, no messages or anything?

If so, you can try hitting Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to kill off X and return you to the command line. At that point you should see any errors that may have come up.

Post what you find here.

cause most likely you didn't configure properly unfortunately.....
try reconfiguring and make sure your putting in all your correct specs for your video and monitor.

I got it to work, but now I don't have internet access. How do I set up DHCP at boot?

you'd normally just set the interface to DHCP. personally i'd just look at /etc/syscnofig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and check that there's a BOOTPROTO=dhcp line there. that should be all you need, assuming your network is loading on boot and you set that interface to load at that time (ONBOOT=yes)

Well, I got DHCP working (didn't install network software first go round so reinstalled). Everything is working fine except a few things. Slackware is awsome and I'm having a great time. One problem. I have a Logitech Optical Mouse with Web Wheel, but don't know how to get the wheel to work. Any ideas?

c'mon acid, that /etc/sysconfig directory doesn't exist in Slack...
