WORKGUS downgrades 10 and current X11 to 6.7.0 'patched'
... which is all well and good, but it would be nice if they put notice on their security change log. Notice only appears in their Version 10 change log (for those who keep 'current'). All those people who only read their security change log, and upgraded to 6.8.1 due to a previous recommendation won't know that 6.8.1 is not 'current' any more and should be downgraded.
According to WORKGUS,
"Version 6.8.1 had a problem making some temporary files. In current
this is fixed making that files in rc.S. Plus, the 6.8.1 package don't
had some freetype files. Now it's all ok!"
I hope so.
*** sigh *** I miss Patrick's professionalism. Security notices were written up in a standard style, which made it kind of reassurring. As it is now with WORKGUS, it has an off-the-cuff, slapdash feel to it.

Well actually it says that this problem "is fixed in current", which I read as meaning that slack-current still uses version 6.8.1 for Xorg. You're right though, the notices are written very badly, need some time to decipher them.
Let's not forget this is (hopefully) a temporary solution. So it is not perfect, but still much better then no updates at all.
I wish to thank the WORKGUS people for the efforts of taking over the maintenance of Slackware.

I'm not so sure. The quality of their work may be great (I'm not so sure about that, though, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) but it sure looks and feels like a bunch of 7eet hAx0rz doing the official maintenence now rather than an engineer.
If NOBODY was doing packages, you can be sure SOMEBODY would step up, and hopefully that would be a professional or at least somebody who adheres to professional standards.
I think WORKGUS do a good job, Patrick himself mentioned in the last changelog on the Slackware site that he trusts their patches and they have contributed to Slackware over the years.
